Cantinho do Avillez, by Portuguese Chef José Avillez, is located on Mouzinho da Silveira Street and every time we visit, we just can’t wait to come back for more.

The best of contemporary Portuguese cuisine is united with the inspiration that José Avillez brings back from his travels and, at Cantinho do Avillez, elegant dishes with a very warm and welcoming component come to life – comfort food that is savored calmly, leaving us completely satisfied.

We’re not lying when we confess that we had a hard time choosing – we asked the staff for suggestions and they were extremely helpful. After some hesitation, we ended up ordering the Chef's most reputable dishes – for a 100% genuine experience.

For starters, prawns à bulhão pato and peixinhos da horta (tempura fried green beans). Then, the veal risotto – which we heard is the envy of many Italians! – codfish slivers, migas soltas, BT egg and explosive olives. For dessert, Avelã3 (one of the biggest hits at Cantinho do Avillez) and the raspberry and basil cheesecake. To accompany the meal, two iconic cocktails: the Primo Basílico (alcoholic) and the Grace (non- alcoholic).
Cantinho do Avillez is cozy and the service is friendly, attentive and welcoming. There is no way you’re leaving this restaurant unsatisfied – there are options for all tastes and the certainty that everyone will want to return very soon. Don’t be fooled by the name: the restaurant has a diminutive in its name, but the experience it provides is gigantic.
