Casa da Guitarra

Music to your ears!

A venue specialized in musical instruments emerged in 2012 in Praça Guilherme Gomes Fernandes - it's called Casa da Guitarra and was the idealized by Alfredo Teixeira, who wanted to promote the construction and use of traditional Portuguese string instruments.

It is a musical instrument store, but it is so much more than that. Besides being able to buy a guitar or a cavaquinho (small guitar with four strings), and even the materials necessary for its construction, Casa da Guitarra promotes concerts, exhibitions, music classes, workshops and exchanges of experiences between musicians and apprentices. Here the heritage is valued, and new ideas emerge that turn it into something even more complete for those who are now beginning to take an interest in stringed instruments.

In the Casa da Guitarra workshop, Alfredo Teixeira builds, repairs and optimizes the instruments that are sold in the store, but the space is much more inclusive than that. Here you tell a story and build something that is part of the DNA of the Portuguese people.

Among violas braguesas (stringed instrument from Braga with five orders of double strings), Portuguese guitars, mandolins, ukuleles and cavaquinhos… the lovers of this musical world will be absolutely delighted.

Cool Tip: Stay tuned to Casa da Guitarra's agenda, because there are lots of events you won't want to miss!
