We rang the doorbell and are beautifully welcomed into a space inspired by a Portuguese garden, with its typical green iron grilles and lemon trees that remind us of childhood. In an elegant location, where tiles and giant vases meet, France and Portugal create a love story: French gastronomy complements the wines from the Douro and the house’s quiet atmosphere mingles perfectly with the energetic desire to discover this city.

We are invited to have a drink in the restaurant/bar while we wait to be checked-in and, inspired by a train trip, the decor makes us dream of the Orient Express. We take a peek outside and it’s irresistible – the amazing light immediately captivates us.

At the Cocorico Luxury Guesthouse each room is special and it’s not by chance that the ten rooms are all different. Named after couples, like Catarina and Benoit or Paula and Paul, each room has a unique decoration that will make you feel at home (even if you’re hundreds of miles away).
