Claus Porto

Since 1887.

It was in 1887 that Ferdinand Claus and Georges Schweder, two Germans living in Portugal, decided to open the first national perfume and soap factory, Claus & Schweder. Later on, it was bought by the company's accountant, Achilles de Brito, and integrated into his own company – Ach Brito – and has stayed in the family ever since.

After more than 130 years and different generations, today Claus Porto is present in 50 countries. It has remained authentic, developing its experience in perfumes and cosmetics, creating a philosophy of craftsmanship and a rich portfolio of hand drawn colorful labels and patterns that give the brand its unique identity. The perfect touch? The passion of those who work at Claus Porto, and who are comfortable recounting, with pride, everything that this Porto brand has achieved, with effort and dedication, up until today.

Each Claus Porto product tells a story and has a unique personality, with packaging inspired by labels and objects from other times that allow us travel through our sense of smell. The brand's factory remains to this day in its hometown, Oporto, where soaps are produced using old-school techniques and are individually hand wrapped.

The store on Flores Street is so much more than a store – it's a sensory experience. Among the wonderful Claus Porto products (perfumes, soaps, notebooks, creams, candles and more) there is still room for a museum that tells the company’s story, a vertical garden and a barber chair that is not just for decoration – on Saturday mornings, men can enjoy this old-fashioned service.

Cool Tip: If you’re curious about discovering the techniques behind Claus Porto's soaps, perfumes and iconic patterns, keep an eye on their agenda – the store on Flores Street promotes free monthly workshops so you can get to know the brand, its traditions and aromas a little bit better.
