The Passenger Hostel

The secret of São Bento Railway Station

Have you ever arrived to a city, tired from the trip, and wished that the hotel was right there, at the train station? The Passenger Hostel is the answer - a secret kept by the São Bento Railway Station since the summer of 2017, which may go unnoticed in the eyes of many people, but that we couldn’t fail to recommend.

The entrance is within the station (on the left side, if facing the trains) and in a recovered place, The Passenger Hostel tells thousands of stories. The structure of the building was kept, and the wonderful and (very high!) height, the doors, the floor, the glasses and even the insulation (fantastic, especially considering the time when it was built), and a new life was given to this secret corner of Porto.

With the possibility of staying in a private room (great for couples and families) or in a collective room (mixed, female or male), in The Passenger Hostel you have a chance to meet other cultures, chat with other travelers and share incredible moments with people you wouldn't know otherwise.

This will certainly not be a boring or unsurprising stay. On the upper floor, there's a winter garden that deserves a highlight, a room for events in the clock tower, a bar with ambient music and a beer-pong table created especially for the Hostel. And, of course, in addition to these divisions, there's also a fully equipped kitchen, a suite with a living room, the twelve collective rooms prepared to receive you, a library, a hall with a mezzanine (where there's a piano that you can play and the best view to the São Bento Railway Station) and many details to explore.

The Passenger Hostel's team is ever nice, young and very cool - the icing on the cake, in a really unique and special place. It wasn’t by chance that this hostel received the award for the 9th Best Hostel in the World, in the category of Best Medium Hostel, and the distinction, two consecutive years, of “Porto's 5 Star Hostel”, a prize awarded only to one place per city.

Cool Tip: Stop by The Passenger Hostel's library and read a book left by another visitor! Here the exchange of books is promoted: guests are encouraged to take a book and leave a different one in its place.
